Latest Humble Bundle is a Paradox

The latest Humble Bundle is all about Paradox games, offering everything from Magicka to Europa Universalis 4.

Naturally, it all depends on how much you’re willing to spend, so let’s look at the obligatory Humble Bundle tiers.

Paying whatever you want (as long as it’s more than $1) gets you Steam copies of War of the Roses: Kingmaker, Magicka (and its The Other Side of the Coin and Horror Props Item Pack expansions), Knights of Pen and Paper +1 Edition, Victoria 2, the Magicka: Wizard Wars Paradox Platypus Robe, and a “Helping Heart” icon for the Paradox forums. Not a bad bunch, I suppose, although not overly impressive. I have no idea if War of the Roses is still particularly active, I’m fairly sure everyone owns Magicka by now, and I’m pretty sure Victoria 2 is one of the more complex of Paradox’s grand strategy brain melt-a-thons. Still, $1 for the lot isn’t half bad; for that price, it’s probably worth a punt.

Paying over the average (currently $4.92) adds in the World War 2-ish Hearts of Iron 3, slightly naff dungeon builder Impire, Peter’s beloved Crusader Kings 2 and its Sons of Abraham expansion, a “Paradox Interactive Music Hits! – Platypus Edition” soundtrack offering music from loads of Paradox games, and More Games Coming Soon. That’s probably a better punt. Impire‘s not exactly good, but it’ll probably entertain for a few hours, and I’ve been told repeatedly that Crusader Kings 2 is just bloody amazing.

Then there are the two tiers that are rather higher priced. $15 throws in Europa Universalis 4 and its New World-themed expansion Conquest of Paradise, while going for the $35 option gets you a Humble Paradox Bundle t-shirt and eight 1.25″ buttons themed around Magicka‘s elements. Perhaps not the best reward for the price, but then, a lot of this is for charity.

If nothing else, this is a relatively cheap way of trying out some Paradox grand strategy, with some other games of mixed quality thrown in. Give the bundle a look over here.
