As part of Microsoft’s Windows 10 presentation today, Fable Legends was used as an example title for the cross-play possibilities between PC and the Xbox One.
This won’t be coming to every single game out there, but if developers fancy implementing it then Windows 10 to Xbox One cross-platform multiplayer will be an option in future.
Fable Legends’ multiplayer beta for the Xbox One kicked off in October, but at present there’s no release date for the PC version. Restricting it to Windows 10 seems pretty unnecessary (unless the cross-platform play requires some mystical DirectX 12 code I guess,) but at least the upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 will be free for 12 months.
Update: There’s now a bit more information about the PC version out there, courtesy of Lionhead themselves. The FAQ states that the Windows 10 release will be concurrent with the Xbox One launch (at some point in 2015,) and that a PC multiplayer beta will be available at some point in the future. You can sign up for that here.
The very same FAQ mentions customisable keyboard/mouse control options, says that Fable Legends will make use of DirectX 12 (on compatible graphics cards) and rules out the chance of the game coming to earlier Windows platforms.
